Fashionable Plus Size Clothing

In the past, the fashion industry pretty much thumbed its nose at women looking for fashionable plus size clothing, but that has happily changed of late. Perhaps that’s because designers and retailers have read the same statistics we have – that roughly 50% of the American women’s population wears a size 14 or larger. Sure, we still have to see the stick-thin models on TV and in magazines, but we are beginning to see some plus size models, too, and that’s an excellent step toward reality for the clothing manufacturers.

To be sure, online retailers have taken advantage in the shift of buying power. We shouldn’t have to settle for whatever they throw our way, and now we won’t have to. We can find fashionable plus size clothing in many online and specialty stores. Our style shows up in what we wear, and we want a full selection of clothing, like the skinny models have.

The designers who are abandoning plus size apparel for their fall and winter lines won’t give us the options we want in the next seasons’ clothing, so we will go with the plus size designers and any regular designers who choose to continue to manufacture plus size clothing. We want to be trendy, sassy and confident, and if the old-time designers won’t style for curvy women like us, the new designers will.

With the range of online retailers now, we can pick and choose the fashionable plus size clothing that we wish to wear, and we have so much more to choose from than we used to. With our new options, we can work with fashion consultants to find that look that’s perfect for us – whatever the size may be.
